John “SPARKY” Kingyens, our very own Fire Chief, has been charged with : Unauthorized use of firefighting equipment. Early this morning uniform patrol officers responded to a call of the fire chief’s truck racing through the city with lights and sirens activated. Believing that the vehicle was possibly stolen, officers conducted a “High Risk” vehicle stop. The officers were surprised to find the vehicle was actually being driven by the chief himself who was dressed in pajamas (the pajamas surprisingly had little policemen printed on them). The chief was quoted as saying he was tired of sitting behind his desk and wanted to feel the thrill again. Kingyens will appear for a bail hearing May 25, 2017.
