A1 Security Crime of the Week

Copper Crooks

On August 19th 2021, just after midnight, unknown persons removed copper cables from a hyrdo transformer at Eastland Plaza on Indian Road.  This triggered a 12 hour power outage at the plaza creating great frustration for the business operators.

This was a very dangerous and risky crime, which amounted to about $10,000 in damage and repairs.  Sarnia Fire attended the area in response to an electrical fire.  Smoke was observed.  Police attended as well and are now investigating the matter.

These bold thieves cut through a razor fence surrounding two separate hydro compounds at the rear of the plaza.  The culprits proceeded to steal the wire from the hydro transformers.  A potentially deadly activity with very little reward and costly for all affected.

Someone out there is bragging about how “brave and daring” they were committing this mindless, reckless and dangerous act.  Do you know who they are?  If you do, do not hesitate to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or go on line at www.p3tips.com.  You will remain anonymous and could be eligible to receive a cash reward.
