A1 Security Crime of the Week

Sarnia Police are looking to identify a male shoplifter who was captured on video surveillance systems at two different locations in the City of Sarnia.

The first incident occurred on January 5, 2024 at approximately 9:30 in the evening. The male entered the business and attempted to conceal items on his person. He was confronted by a store security employee about his activity but left the business before his identity could be confirmed.

The second incident happened on January 25, 2024 at a separate business. This time the thief was observed concealing items from various sections of the store on his person and in a duffel bag he was carrying. The male was confronted by store security after he left the premises without paying for the items.

The suspect fled the area after giving back the items and after being asked for identification.

These two incidents are “shoplifting” but identified as theft under the Criminal Code of Canada. It is estimated in Canada that merchants lose over 5 billion dollars annually to shoplifters. Police can release images of shoplifters to the public in order to secure their identity. Be prepared to be watched or recorded via video when you enter many public spaces.

The suspect’s image was captured on the two separate security systems. Do you recognize the individual in these pictures?
