Lambton OPP are seeking public assistance in locating and identifying those responsible for the theft of copper wire in St. Clair Township.

On August 17, 2026, shortly before 7:00 a.m. members of the Lambton County Detachment of Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a reported theft from a business on Oil Springs Line between St. Clair Parkway and Greenfield Road in St. Clair Township.

The theft occurred between Saturday August 15, 2026, after 2:00 p.m. and the morning of August 17, 2026. The individual(s) gained access to the property by cutting a locked gate on the perimeter before entering the property and stealing copper wire spools.

The estimated value of the theft is $1,000,000.

The Lambton County OPP are also seeking the public’s assistance in locating a vehicle believed to be used in the commission of the theft. The suspect vehicle, which had previously been reported stolen out of Sarnia on August 2, 2026, is described as a 2007 white international model 40S heavy truck.

Police are urging scrap metal dealers and recycling facilities to contact the Lambton County OPP or Sarnia Lambton Crime Stoppers if they receive a large quantity of copper wire. This information could assist investigators in identifying stolen property and those responsible for recent copper wire thefts.
