A1 Security – Crime of the Week

August 6, 2021 – DAMAGE TO LIFE RING AT BLUEWATER BRIDGE

Sometime last weekend, someone decided to cause severe damage to a life saving ring under the Bluewater Bridge.  This is not your average damage to public property!  This is truly life-threatening property damage!

Swimming in the St Clair River in this area is a very popular activity during the summer months and if you think about it, boating, kayaking, parasailing and other water activities start early in the spring and carry on into the fall.  Any one of these activities could potentially require one of these life rings to rescue the participants.  Damaging, stealing, or otherwise disabling these devices can have tragic consequences.

The life rings are provided and maintained by the good folks at Pt Edward Fire & Rescue, and they are not cheap!  Over $1,000.00 to replace each one!

Lambton OPP would like you to be aware that vandals have been very active in this area lately and they are targeting the washrooms, the splash pad and pump house and other nearby properties.

If you have any information about this vandalism or property damage, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) night or day.  You will stay anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000

Tips can also be submitted online through our website at www.sarnialambtoncrimestoppers.org
