A1 Security Crime of the Week

ARSON ON QUEEN STREET

On September 25, 2021, shortly after 7 AM, Sarnia Police responded to a fire call in the 100 block of Johnson Street, near Queen Street.  Sarnia Fire was already on scene and had distinguished the fire which involved a sailboat parked in a shared driveway.  The intensity of the fire on the boat spread and caused significant damage to a nearby garage, a fence, a trailer and a shed on adjacent properties.   Thankfully, no persons were harmed as a result of this incident.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division as well as officers with the Forensic Identification Branch were also called out.

Photographs were taken of the crime scene.  A canvas of the neighbourhood was conducted and video surveillance footage collected from various neighbouring properties is being been reviewed.

This incident has been deemed arson by Sarnia Fire Services.  Damages are estimated at well over $100,000.00.
