TWO FIREARMS CALLS IN ONE WEEK…
On February 23rd, 2022, just prior to midnight, some type of firearm was discharged from a moving car on Kathleen Avenue near Walnut in Sarnia. The shooting was directed towards another moving vehicle in the area.
It was reported that there were two individuals in the suspect vehicle which was described as a dark coloured Ford hatchback type car. The driver of the suspect car is believed to be a white male, between 18 to 20 years old with shaggy hair and wearing a touque. The male passenger is dark skinned and was wearing a hoodie.
The victim in this occurrence rammed their vehicle into the suspect car, causing damage to the passenger side of the Ford. It was last observed in the area of Indian Road.
Lambton OPP are also investigating a weapons call that occurred on March 1, 2022 in the Village of Point Edward. It was reported that someone travelling in a silver mini van fired a projectile from a BB or airsoft type weapon. This incident happened shortly after 8 PM on Michigan Avenue.
This van was last observed travelling northbound on Albert Street.
The victim that was struck by the projectile was injured, however, fortunately, the injury was not serious. This does not negate the fact that this crime was not serious in nature. This is an assault with a weapon and has serious consequences if the shooter is identified.
Numerous police vehicles converged in the area once this incident was reported but the suspect vehicle was not located.
Any type of gun violence is not tolerated in any community. These two incidents occurring in Sarnia Lambton within barely a week of each other is very concerning for the police agencies involved.
