GRAFFITI IN SARNIA PARKS

Earlier this week vandals spray painted graffiti throughout several Sarnia parks and recreation areas.  This senseless act contributes to the degradation of the high standards the City of Sarnia has for our local recreation areas.

Removing graffiti and restoring the painted surfaces is a very expensive and time-consuming task for city parks employees.  Their time is much better spent on the scheduled maintenance & improvements that make Sarnia residents proud.

Our parks are spectacular, and this type of crime is more than just disappointing!  It’s maddening to think that the actions of a few can affect so many.  Graffiti is more than just mischief or vandalism.  It’s the first thing people see when they approach, drive by, or attend at one of our parks.

Damaging property with spray painted graffiti is called ‘tagging’.  Taggers want attention and notoriety so that’s what we should give them.  Let’s give their name to the police.  That should get them all the ‘attention’ they need.

You can make some money from this.  If you know who is responsible for this property damage, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or submit your tip online at www.sarnialambtoncrimestoppers.org

Either way, you’ll remain anonymous.
