A1 Security Safety Message

Sarnia Lambton Crime Stoppers would like to remind everyone to stay safe this holiday season and avoid impaired driving.

We all have to play our part in reducing the tragedies caused by impaired drivers. Make the choice not to consume alcohol or drugs if you are driving and never let anyone drive if you know they may be impaired.

If you choose to partake in any festivities make arrangements ahead of time by having a designated driver, calling a taxi or using public transportation.

With a few weeks still remaining in 2022 the Sarnia Police and Lambton Ontario Provincial Police have laid a combined total of 241 charges related to impaired driving.

If you are charged with impaired driving you will face an automatic 90 day licence suspension and your vehicle will be impounded for 7 days. If you are convicted of this offence you will face penalties which include fines, further licence suspensions and possibly jail time.

The tragedies caused by this crime are 100% preventable.

If you see an impaired driver and there is an immediate danger we encourage you to call 911 right away.

If you know someone who regularly drives impaired but is not driving at that moment please call Sarnia Lambton Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or go on-line at www.p3tips.com. Crime Stoppers is a completely anonymous program and you could receive a reward for your tip.

Have a safe and happy holiday season!
