The Ministry of Natural Resources is always on the hunt for people fishing over their limit, and for those selling fish they have caught. Those who fish in our waterways have a responsibility to learn the regulations governing their particular activity, and obey the laws that pertain to them.
The sale of non-commercially caught or “angler caught fish” is a dangerous and illegal trade. DO NOT purchase fish from these people. If the fish has not been handled correctly, you and the people you feed could become very ill.
If you have information on someone breaking the fishing rules and regulations, and anonymity is important to you, call Crime Stoppers. We will make sure the Conservation Officers who work in this area are advised.
Remember, they are our natural resources, let’s look after them!
