Crime Prevention Week

The week of November 5th to the 9th, 2012, is designated as Crime Prevention Week. This is a time to recognize the efforts of your local police officers, and for us all to become more aware of how we can prevent crime in our neighbourhoods. It is a time for us to ensure we do not become victims of a crime we can prevent.  Consider things like crime proofing your home or business, become familiar with and perhaps become involved with a Neighbourhood Watch program. Maybe take the time to become familiar with Crime Stoppers and how we work to prevent crime in our community.

This year’s theme is “Engaged Communities Prevent Crime.” So be a good neighbour and become involved in Crime Prevention.  A safe community does not just happen, it takes everyone doing their part, and remember;  living in a safe community improves your quality of life.
