Fraud Reminder

Sarnia Lambton Crime Stoppers is reminding the public to stay vigilant regarding suspicious phone calls and e-mail contacts.  Frauds continue to be a problem for the general public with fraudsters pretending to be a banking institution, or off-shore companies looking to employ the potential victim, or computer repair companies and the list goes on. Remember, if something seems too good to be true, then it probably is. Also, be cautious when you receive “alarmist” type of calls. For example saying your computer has a virus or your bank account has been attacked. Don’t panic, just hang up and personally call your bank, or call your own local computer repair business and speak with them. Be wary of requests to transfer money to foreign banks, and really think about the reason for doing so.
